So I was listening to the Craig Charles funk and soul show on BBC 6 Music this afternoon, and firstly noticed that Teena Marie has passed away at the age of 54, which is obviously a terrible shame. And secondly I noticed that the artist formerly known MF Doom used the refrain from I Need Your Lovin in his tune ‘Greenbacks’.
Teena Marie, longtime collaborator of Rick James, sadly passed away on 26th December 2010, leaving a legacy of 13 studio albums released within her career in the recording industry. Check This:

MF Doom, has been around in the rap game since an impressive debut in the 80’s as part of the KMD group. After not really gaining any mainstream recognition and following the untimely death of Doom’s brother – Subroc, the group disbanded and it was a few years before Zev Love X would reappear as MF (aka Metal Fingers aka Mad Flows) Doom with this 1997 cut on Bobbito’s Fondle ‘Em Records.
